What happens when two immigrants in the financial space serendipitously meet in an online webinar?

They hit it off on a Zoom meeting “Coffee Chat” and decide to talk shop every week to brainstorm solutions for their respective client base of -you guessed it! - immigrants to the US, foreign nationals, and US expats!

As they talk, they think, “Why not take these brainstorming sessions online? Make it available to a broader audience?” A seed is planted!

Jane Mepham, CFP®

(pronounced Jayne-Mee-fum)

Jane came to the US as an international student and continued her career in the high-tech industry.

At her first job, she had a chance to invest in a 401k but had no clue on how to go about it, or whom to ask for advice on investing while on a work visa. The idea that she’d been given access to start building her version of the American dream and couldn’t take advantage of it was devastating to her.

Fast forward to today, as the CFP® founder of Elgon Financial Advisors, she is the financial guide that she wishes she and her international family had many, many years ago. She writes a lot about these issues on her blog Elgon Financial Advisors and LinkedIn.

Jane lives with her family in Austin, TX. Her Twitter pictures of Austin while on her early-morning runs have a life of their own and tell an amazing story!

She especially enjoys a cup of Kenyan coffee or tea. However, she prefers Chai when she is out and about as documented on her Instagram Page!

Manasa Nadig, EA

(pronounced Maa-nuh-saa-Naa-dig)

Manasa came to the US from India as a new bride to join her husband.  Her educational background in accountancy got her interested in US taxation.

She got her Enrolled Agent (EA) license and decided to start her own firm, MN Tax & Business Services after working with many other CPA firms.

She started blogging about the complex compliance needs that taxpayers in the US and US citizens abroad need to disclose after the Foreign Tax and Compliance Act (FATCA) was passed. This is still an area that’s not well understood, and few are fully aware of the complicated legal requirements. For more of Manasa’s writing visit her blog The Buzz About Taxes or her Twitter.

Manasa lives with her family in Canton, MI. She loves to practice Yoga and meditation. She is currently in search of a Vipassana teacher who will take her meditation practice to the next level.

Check out her sweet, and sometimes quirky quotes about business and life on her Instagram feed.

She loves a good cup of South Indian filter coffee. The masala chai she makes is popularly called “Everything-but-the Kitchen sink” chai by her family!
